This is a work depicting the second floor of a brothel, rendered using the 𝑓𝑢𝑘𝑖𝑛𝑢𝑘𝑖-𝑦𝑎𝑡𝑎𝑖 technique.

A traditional Japanese painting technique in which the roof is “blown off” to show the interior of a building, commonly used in ukiyo-e to depict scenes inside upper floors.
